Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Bond Consultancy Ltd (“we”, “our”, “us”) makes and operates Thrower (“the App”), an app for iPhone and Android that scores knife and axe throws at a wooden target using your phone’s camera. This policy explains what information the App uses, where it is kept, and why.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. In short
- The camera picture never leaves your phone. The App looks at it only to find the target and score throws.
- Your games and player names are kept on your phone.
- An account is optional. Everything that scores works without one. With an account, your email address and a backup of your games and player names are stored with Amazon Web Services in London (UK).
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking. We do not sell or share your information for advertising.
2. Information kept on your phone
2.1 The camera picture
The App needs camera access to see your target. The picture is analysed on your phone to find the rings and to tell when a knife or axe has landed. Pictures and video are never uploaded or sent anywhere, and they are not saved to your phone’s photos. The only recordings in the App are the sample “Live test” videos that come with it.
2.2 Your games and player names
Finished games (the date and time, how the game was played, the round scores and the player names you typed) and the names you last used are stored in the App’s own storage on your phone. Deleting a game in History, clearing History, or deleting the App removes them from your phone.
Player names are whatever you type: they can be nicknames, and they are never required.
3. Information we hold if you create an account (optional)
You can create an account from the App’s Account screen, with an email address and password, or with Google or Sign in with Apple. If you do, we hold:
- Your email address, to sign you in and identify your account. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple’s private relay address instead.
- A sign-in identifier, a random ID created by our sign-in service (Amazon Cognito) that links your backup to your account. Your password is handled by Amazon Cognito; we cannot see it. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only your email address and an identifier from them, never your Google or Apple password.
- A backup of your games and player names, as described in section 2.2, so they come back if you sign in on another phone.
We use this information only to provide the account and the backup. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not send newsletters.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Your information is processed only by:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS), our cloud provider, which stores your account and backup on our behalf (Amazon Cognito and AWS AppSync with Amazon DynamoDB, in the London region).
- Google or Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them, under their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: if we are required to by law or a valid legal process.
5. Advertising, analytics and tracking
The App shows no advertising and contains no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software. It does not track you across other apps or websites. This website uses no cookies and no analytics.
6. Storage and security
Your account and backup are stored by AWS in London, United Kingdom. Information is encrypted while it travels between the App and AWS, and AWS encrypts it where it is stored. Each account can reach only its own backup.
If you live outside the UK, your account information is transferred to and stored in the UK.
7. How long we keep it
- On your phone: until you delete the game, clear History or delete the App.
- Your account and backup: until you delete your account. Deleting your account in the App removes your account and its backup straight away. See Delete Your Account.
- We keep no payment records, because the App currently has no purchases.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your information (you can also do this yourself; see Delete Your Account and Delete Your Data).
To make a request, email us from your account’s email address (section 11). We reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, such as the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
9. Children
The App is for people old enough to take part in knife and axe throwing under their venue’s rules and the law where they live. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when the App gains new features. The latest version is always on this page, with its date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we will tell you in the App before it applies.
